Secure Encrypted Email is now for Free!
Datum: Montag, dem 25. Oktober 2010
Thema: Rom Infos

As the demand for secure Email services is increasing, it was just a matter of time till a provider would offer these services for free. But, in comparing providers it also always makes sense to ensure that the service offered is “really” secure.

Email transmission is only entirely secure when messages remain encrypted all the way from the sender to the recipient. For example, DE-Mail is not falling under this category, as prior to delivery messages will be briefly decrypted and again encrypted. Hence, should someone hack or have otherwise access to the respective server system then messages could be read by unauthorized third parties.

Equally risky are services which require the exchange of access or decryption codes between sender and recipient via a separate tool, such as a mobile phone, before a message can be read. Needless to say that this is not only very inconvenient, but also risky in case that such a code were intercepted.

But Email security should actually not be limited to merely encryption of messages: How about having the sender of a message decide what the recipient is allowed to do with it? What if the sender were in a position to forbid the recipient of an Email to forward, print or copy it? – And what if all that were “really” provided for free, without any hidden charges or fees?

Opolis Secure Mail (www.opolis.eu) may be the answer.

Opolis was launched to provide an integrated high-security email and messaging service solution, and for free. Whilst functioning like email, various security and safety features and all encryption steps are embedded in a single service which operates from any host PC all over the world.

With Opolis, all messages and attached documents, such as text documents or photos, are in their entire chain sender-to-recipient encrypted. Emails and documents can therefore not be read or accessed by any unauthorized individual. In addition, before sending a message, the sender decides whether the recipient may copy, print, respond to or forward a message or not. Hence, information leaks can simply been prevented in that the sender forbids that a message may be printed, forwarded or copied. This feature also extends to all text and photo attachments.

The Opolis monitoring functions put the sender in a position that the sent message can be tracked in its further trail. Hence, if for example forwarding were allowed, then the sender will see when and to whom a message was forwarded and how it was further processed.

As mentioned, Opolis is for free and merely requires that both, the sender and the recipient are Opolis users. The registration process takes approximately 5 minutes.
